2011 Scholarships

The Armstrong Foundation is sponsoring a block of four-year college scholarships in 2011 for sons and daughters of Armstrong employees. Scholarships will be awarded through the National Merit Scholarship competitions.

On December 11, 2009, the Armstrong Foundation Board of Directors approved an increase in the amount of the annual stipend from $2,000 to $2,500 effective in the fall for the 2010/2011 academic year for current and new scholarships. National Merit Scholarship Corporation coordinates all payments and will communicate this change to affected recipients.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Students in their junior year (next-to-last year) of high school who:

  • are the sons and daughters of regular full-time, regular part-time U.S. employees, expatriates, or retirees of Armstrong and its domestic subsidiaries, and
  • will complete secondary school and enter an accredited college or junior college as a full-time student in the United States in 2011.

REQUIREMENTS:

Students must:

  • take the PSAT/NMSQT in their junior year of high school (dates are October 14 and 17, 2009), and
  • complete the 2011 Armstrong Scholarship Program Entry Form by January 31, 2010, using either of these methods

AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIPS:

  • $2,500 per year for four years or until baccalaureate degree requirements are completed, whichever occurs first

SELECTION OF WINNERS:

The scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of scholastic aptitude, leadership, and good citizenship as determined by testing and other procedures established by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by March 2011.
