What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear “ management meeting?” PowerPoint? Suit-and-tie? Not if you’re part of the senior management team of Armstrong World Industries! This powerhouse team came from all corners of the globe to participate in a high-energy playground project for children in their corporate hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Armstrong CEO Michael Lockhart, along with more than 150 Armstrong volunteers, rolled up their sleeves and in just four hours, set posts, assembled a tree climber, bolted in loop ladders and sliding poles, planted trees, and raised a lightning slide. ArmSTRONG, indeed!

“The only thing better than watching the children catch their first glimpse of the playground was seeing the spirited team building among our people,” said Lockhart. “You could feel the camaraderie; everyone was participating equally; and the result is a great gift to the community.”

Major Tim Lyle, Executive Director of the Salvation Army, described the wide-eyed wonder of the children in his after school program. They have been anxiously awaiting this playground. “The kids got off the bus and were ecstatic to see all the things to jump and climb and play on. We are very grateful to The Armstrong Foundation, KaBOOM!, and the Lancaster County Foundation for their support on this project.” Armstrong Foundation - Armstrong Foundation Donates Funds to Playground Project for Lancaster, PA
