6/6/2005 - St. Helens Plant Employees Direct $5,942 To United Way of Columbia County

In the continuing effort to support their community, employees of the Armstrong St. Helens, Ore., Ceiling Plant have donated $5,942 to the United Way of Columbia County. The amount of $3,942 is earmarked for the general fund and $2,000 will go toward a loaned executive position for the United Way’s 2005-2006 campaign.

The funds are directed through the Armstrong Foundation, the company’s charitable arm. Each year, the Foundation donates to the United Way in each of its 27 North American plant communities on behalf of Armstrong employees.

“The support of Armstrong’s Foundation and employees help us fund many services for members of our community as well as reach out to new donors during the campaign,” said Kathye Beck, executive director of the United Way of Columbia County. “We are so grateful for their continued support to help us change lives.”

Since 1985, the Foundation has enhanced the neighborhoods where employees live and work, donating millions of dollars to community caring efforts. Today, Armstrong Foundation philanthropy takes many forms and is largely allocated to the causes employees are passionate about.

The St. Helens plant has manufactured Armstrong ceiling products since 1990, producing over 107 different products. The site includes a Distribution Center that ships ceiling tile throughout the West Coast, Western Canada, and the Pacific Rim countries.
