5/30/2008 - Armstrong Foundation Joins Armstrong China and WAVE to Aid Earthquake-Damaged China

The Armstrong Foundation has donated $30,000 to Half the Sky Children’s Earthquake Fund to help children affected by the recent earthquake in central China. The Foundation’s gift adds to the efforts of the Armstrong China and WAVE businesses which have made a similar donation to the China Red Cross. In addition, employees from all of Armstrong’s organizations in China contributed to disaster relief agencies.

“All Armstrong employees in China and their families are safe, though an employee’s family lost their home in the quake. We immediately sought ways to help those who were in distress, especially children in institutions and children orphaned or displaced by the disaster,” said Greg Gottlieb, senior vice president and managing director -- Asia/Pacific. “Half the Sky rose to the top for its extraordinary work and reputation. The Foundation’s contribution will help children get the food, clothing and shelter, along with longer-term counseling and developmental support, they so desperately need.”

Half the Sky Children’s Earthquake Fund has been established by China’s Half the Sky Foundation in cooperation with China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs. Click here, Half the Sky Journal, to read more about the organization’s disaster-relief efforts.
