5/20/2002 - Armstrong Employees Direct $13,000 to Local YMCA

Warren, Arkansas - In a strong show of support for the local YMCA, a facility providing worthwhile services in the Warren community, employees of Armstrong World Industries, through the Armstrong Foundation, are donating $13,365 to the Pulaski County United Way in Little Rock. To ensure that money goes to work in the Armstrong plant community, the United Way has promised to direct the funds back to the Warren YMCA on behalf of the Armstrong family.

"Our employees are very excited about seeing their local Y supported, especially when the money is coming from the Armstrong Foundation," said Witt Human Resources manager Marty Reep. "They are proud to tell people Armstrong is helping them support their community."

Wood flooring plant employees from the Armstrong Robbins Witt Plant attached a check presentation ceremony Monday, May 20, at the YMCA. Each year, on behalf of employees, the Armstrong Foundation donates to The United Way in each of its 33 North American plant committees.

Since 1985, the Armstrong Foundation has enhanced the neighborhoods where employees live and work. Millions of dollars each year are donated to community caring efforts. Today, the Foundation philanthropy takes many forms and is largely allocated to the causes the employees are passionate about. Employees in Witt and Sykes chose their YMCA to receive Foundation dollars.

Armstrong World Industries, Inc., a subsidiary of Armstrong Holdings, Inc., is a global leader in the design and manufacture of floors, ceilings and cabinets. In 2001, Armstrong's net sales totaled more than $3 billion. Founded in 1860, Armstrong has approximately 16,000 employees worldwide.

Pictured at the check presentation were Sara Lunsford, Brandi Livingston, Mark McVay, YMCA Director David King, John Nazyaro of The United Way, Marilyn Rawls, James Lawson, Marty Reep, John McCoy, Judy Shipp, Bill Greer and Todd Fitzgerald.
